Meet Dr. Rivero

Board Certified Dentist Anesthesiologist Dr. Jose Rivero, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, earned his DDS and practiced before furthering his training in the U.S. He completed an advanced dentistry program at the University of Connecticut, then a year in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Jacobi Medical Center, New York, where he cultivated a keen interest in anesthesiology to aid patients uncomfortable with dental procedures.

Dr. Jose Rivero completed a comprehensive 3-year Dental Anesthesiology residency at Jacobi Medical Center, affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. During his training at this Level 1 Trauma Center, he mastered sedation and anesthesia for a diverse patient population across various clinical settings, including extensive rotations in critical care and pain management. His proficiency extended to treating patients with special needs, and he demonstrated leadership as Chief Resident.
 
Upon completion of his residency training Dr. Rivero became Board Certified by the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, the only officially recognized institution providing board certification in Anesthesiology at the highest level of training for Dentistry. He keeps an active private practice providing ambulatory anesthesia and is affiliated with Columbia University Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he holds teaching positions.

He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
