CSEA Dental Insurance and How it Works

Jan 16, 2024

According to the American Dental Association, more than 80% of Americans have dental insurance or some dental benefits. Two-thirds of these people have private insurance provided by their employers or other group programs. Such private dental benefits are the CSEA dental insurance. This program is managed by the CSEA employee benefits fund to provide dental benefits to all CSEA employees and their families. With your active CSEA membership, the doors are open to save and secure insurance that helps you cover the costs of your routine dental exams and other procedures.

How CSEA Insurance Works

CSEA plan offers complete coverage for most necessary dental care needs. CSEA is a popular dental insurance plan in most parts of New York, with many companies in the region offering these benefits to their employees. Under this plan, patients receive complete coverage for preventive and restorative dentistry, orthodontics, and dental sedation. While most CSEA employee benefit plans have similar structures, employers may modernize their insurance plan to cater to their employees' needs.

  • CSEA dental plan pays between $1500 and $2500 as the maximum annual benefit defined by the company.
  • CSEA requires people to pay an annual deductible of $50 before they can cover anything.
  • The CSEA offers 60% and 100% coverage for dental visits and procedures.
  • In case your active CSEA plan has a different policy, covering less than 100%, the provisions will indicate the terms.

Cleanings And Checkups

The CSEA dental plans allow two cleanings and checkups every year, twice every 12 months, or one cleaning and checkup every six months. All these three cases are not similar. Every year, the insurance will pay for two cleanings and checkups, which can be from January to December or July to June, depending on the company. The number of visits for the remaining two options is calculated from the last consecutive months—for example, the last 12 months to the day.

CSEA Coverage

CSEA employee benefits plan covers about 50% of major procedures such as crowns, bridges, and dentures. It covers up to 80% of minor procedures like fillings, extractions, root canals, and gum treatment. The actual percentage covered may sometimes be lower because the CSEA pays less fees for these dental procedures.

It is worth noting that CSEA does not cover any cosmetic procedures. Since CSEA coverage varies depending on the company, one should always check with their carrier for information on specific benefits.
